Meetup Groups meet face-to-face to pursue hobbies, network, get support, make friends, find playgroups or even change the world.

Yea! Though We Walk (and Hike) through the Valley of Heart's Delight....
we also dance, go to concerts, tour historic spots, play games, and get to know out-of-the-way places around and beyond Silicon Valley. We host both flatland city walks and beginner hikes (4-5 miles) with some elevation gain, hoping to increase our speed and strength.
Our activities strive to be low-budget and exercise-oriented, with occasional variations from the norm for special events or movie nights. Hikes will be at a variety of parks throughout Santa Clara County and the East Bay Regional Park District; walks will often be part of a "Know your Hometown's Attractions" series, with emphasis on our area's historic spots.
Dogs are welcome on many of our outings, but not all. If an event is not described as dog-friendly, please don't plan on bringing your four-legged friend; some members are allergic.
We often carpool from Sunnyvale and encourage ride-sharing.
There will be no mandatory fee to attend events ? but donations to cover the $144 per year that your organizers pay to Meetup.com will be greatly appreciated. Some people who come often have chipped in $5 or $10 to cover a year's participation.
A requisite for joining the group is to provide a phone number so that we can reach you at the last minute if there is an emergency need (rare) to cancel an event, or to call you if you have signed up for an event but are not there at the start time. We prefer that you not sign up for an event you are not sure that you can attend except in case of illness or severe family emergency; a commitment to attend a meetup event should be considered the same as a commitment you would make to a friend in any other social setting.
