Where to meet: We'll meet on the MASON ROAD SIDE at the 1st parking lot on the left (if you're heading North on Mason Road from Manchester Road).
This will be a moderate to easy 4.5 mile hike on the Hawk Ridge Trail. It takes approximately 1.5 hours.

What to bring:
- WATER – THIS IS IMPORTANT ALL YEAR LONG AND ESPECIALLY IN THE WARMER MONTHS. WE WILL USUALLY BE OUT FOR AT LEAST 1 ½ HOURS AND THAT IS TOO LONG TO GO WITHOUT REPLENISHING THE LIQUIDS THAT YOU WILL BE BURNING WHILE WALKING. – I AVOID DRINKING CAFFEINATED BEVERAGES BEFORE WALKING. THEY DRY ME OUT AND MAKE ME HAVE TO URINATE MORE. THE ARE A LOT OF GOOD ARTICLES ABOUT “effects of caffeine and exercise” ON THE INTERNET OR ASK YOU DOCTOR.
- Dress in layers (not sure what the weather will do). The top couple of layers should be easily unbuttoned or unzipped to allow easy ventilation. Wear a hat.
- I recommend broken in hiking shoes over Tennis shoes. A lot of the trails are over loose gravel and dirt and the treads on the hiking boots work much better.
- Snacks – EAT LIGHTLY BEFORE THE WALK AND BRING A POWER BAR OR SNACK TO MUNCH ON DURING THE WALK.

After the hike we will meet at a local resturant for convesation and food.

Meetup Donation: Meetup charges me $72 every six months to have the Walking site. If you would like to donate $1 at some of the walks, it will be appreciated.

    •  A little warm but what can you expect in July? I enjoyed seeing the park and definetly would have gotten lost with out the guidance. I liked it.
    •  I thought it was a really good place to walk, even with the humidity and higher temperatures on Tuesday. I am glad I caught up with the group, eventually, because the people are nice. I am working on getting to these places on time. The address on the mailbox was different than what may pop up on a GPS device, but, only slightly, so, that is not why I was late! I was getting an oil change and they didn't get to my car as soon as they told me they would... So, then, I further delayed things by deciding to get a copy of the meet-up description, just in case...I had only printed the map, previously. Fortunately, I then knew which trail you were following, and found you, eventually. I had a very good dinner, afterward, too, with the group.
