About Paris Walkers United

PARIS WALKERS UNITED!


Hello to all fellow walkers,

Paris Walkers United is for anyone and everyone
interested in walking for pleasure and life long fitness.

The purpose of this group is not to train for
Olympic speed walking! Rather, it is meant for people to
get together and walk at moderate paces in order
to enjoy Paris while also enjoying the health benefits of walking.
And of course to meet some nice people in the process!

I would like to encourage people of all ages to join.

Paris Walkers United was started in September 2006.
We now have over 300 members with 7 new members
on average joining every week. In 2007, we walked over 400 kilometers.
Our goal for 2008 is 800k!

Paris Walkers United offers Sunday strolls of 1-2 hours
but we also trek outside of the city. In 2008 we will take on several
longer walks outside of Paris such as Paris to Versailles, the vineyards
and castles of the wine country, the South of France Santiago de
Compostela pilgrimage walk and even destinations beyond France!
Of course, many city walks in Paris too!

I also hope to link our group to a few others related to
fitness and recreation in order to come up with interesting
events throughout the year. I encourage everyone to
participate and to also suggest new walks.

As for me, I love to walk! The beauty of France makes it one
of the greatest places in the world for it.
