Walking in San Francisco for Health and History
|
Meet other local people who are interested in walking for fitness and in learning about the history of San Francisco, including the city's movie history. Most Saturdays we go on long walks that have great variety in distance, stair climbing, and amount of history information. Attendance has varied from 2 to 38. Routes are well planned with adequate restrooms. We slow up for people and don't give them heart attacks. Walks are free. EARTHSHAKING NEWS, May 8, 2008: A once in a lifetime world historical event is happening Sunday, May 25th: the landing on Mars of the USA spacecraft Phoenix. Chabot Observatory will project on their planetarium's ceiling a live video feed from Mission Control. See details below. Click on "Photos" at left to see 921 photos of our last 43 walks thanks to 40 of our members. I am composing a "History of San Francisco Made Simple." You can see it by clicking on "About Us" at the left. Also, check out 2 other popular complementary meetups "San Francisco Wine Lovers Group," and "Picnicking plus Visiting Science and Nature Places." The web links to them are below:
