Would you like to meditate but don't want to sit still. Did you know you can do both. You can start by a 5 minute meditation exercise. I will guide you. Then go for a 30 minute to 1 hour walk. Afterwords we can talk about your experience. Meditation is great. It improves focus, listening and communication. Improves health, lowers blood pressure, improves digestion, better sleep. There are so many benefits to meditating on a regular basis. Combine meditation with walking enhancing the walking exp …
… As a Communication Coach I teach improved focus, listening and communication skills through combining meditation, mindfulness based stress reduction, positive thoughts, and guided imagery and walking. Mindfulness based stress reduction is practicing living each moment as it happens in a non-reactive, non-judgmental, non-striving state, with a clear mind and then letting it go. Keeping your focus allows you to hear what is being said to you and making the best possible decision when you are de …

… Others come out solely for the social time combined with the exercise. Walking for 60 minutes is a great workout as is a 60 minute run. And if you happen to be in the middle, using run/walk technique, that's great too! You must be able to move for 60 minutes. The pace doesn't matter. The goal doesn't matter. If you can't move at a brisk pace for 60 minutes you will not have fun. We are definitely into this for fitness! WOW Participants Include: 1. Fitness runners, walkers, or run/wa …
Welcome to WOW! Meet weekdays and weekends to walk or run 3 miles or more at various locations throughout the Bay Area. Our group is social but fitness is our goal. Minimum requirement is that you can move for 60 minutes already. The pace doesn't matter. Some of us walk for fitness. Some of us mix walking/running. Some of us are pretty serious runners and are training to improve our times. Most of us participate in a race once in a while. I encourage women to compete in a few events every year a …

Please note that this group is on winter hiatus. We will reconvene in the late spring as the weather warms. Blessings! Join us for a casual walk and conversation along the trails of the Berkeley Marina area. We will meet each Monday morning at 10:00am at the Cesar Chavez Park turn-around for an hour walk and conversation about spiritual topics. (Look for someone holding a “Walk & Talk” sign) At each meeting we will have a question or topic to suggest for our walking conversation(s). Group memb …

I started this group as a way to keep me accountable to my fitness and weight loss goals. It is so much more fun when you can exercise with other people. So this group is for anyone that wants to join me for walking and/or hiking (and maybe even bike riding, yoga or dance class). I will be doing it regularly so you can join me everyday or just once a week, whatever works for your schedule. I also invite any member to post an event that they want to host to the site. Everyone has different sche …

The Alameda Running and Walking Club is for everyone that wants to enjoy the beauty of Alameda while walking, jogging and running. It is often hard to motivate or commit to getting outside and getting some exercise. What can make it easier and more fun is to do it with other people. Let’s all get together to have a good time! All levels are welcome to join. Any member can suggest a Meetup and if three people say they will attend then it will be scheduled and all the members will be notified. Ple …
Meet other local people in their 30's, 40's & 50's who are interested in Walking for fitness! Not much of a jogger? Me neither. I prefer the relaxation and conversation you gain from walking with a group of friends. Walking in a location with a view, away from the street noise, is a big plus. One of my favorites is Angel Island. Prefer those who are in relatively good shape (capable of walking at a good pace for at least an hour and able to talk at the same time). If you're not sure, chances are …
If you are single, over fifty and still active I encourage you to join this group. I find that there are the " still living an active lifestyle folks" and the " left activity back there somewhere folks". I am active and over fifty and would love to meet others who are, too. Whether we are walking around Lake Merritt or training for a century ride, let's do it with fun, fit people. You are welcome to suggest activities and help organize them. I am based in Oakland but will not limit my activities …

This group is for women mostly aged 25-35 (though all are welcome) that would like to read, cook, and/or walk with a group on a regular basis. We have a book club on the first Tuesday evening of every month that will probably focus on mostly fiction of the chick lit variety, a monthly cooking club, and there will also be a standing Sunday meeting for those interested in walking around Lake Elizabeth. Most of our hikes are weekday AM in the Livermore and TriValley. Mostly 1 to 2 hours, we occasionally do longer hikes of 3 or 4 hours. Very rarely weekends, so if that is your only availability, we might not be the right group for you. You don't HAVE to work from home, but if you are available during weekdays (retired, flexible schedule etc) and want to get out in the sun (and rain) and get your fitness and nature fix early in the morning, come on out and join us.
